Vice Chair - Practice Administration (RST)

Mayo ClinicRochester, MN

About The Position

The Vice Chair-Practice Administration serves as a senior administrative leader partnering closely with clinical leaders and the Associate Administrator(s) to provide strategic, operational, and governance oversight across complex clinical support and infrastructure domains. This role is accountable for guiding Rochester and enterprise-level priorities spanning reprocessing and distribution services, equipment and technology governance, space activation and capital coordination and other high-impact operational portfolios. Additional accountability may also span across the various CPC subcommittees (OPS, HPS, and S&P). The Vice Chair is expected to bring seasoned judgment, strong execution capability and credibility in a physician-led, committee-driven environment—often stepping into leadership gaps where work is growing in scale, complexity, or cross-departmental dependence. Success in the role requires the ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on operational leadership; to mentor and support the development of senior administrators; to steward resources responsibly; and to proactively navigate ambiguity across institutional committees, capital planning and external partnerships. Candidates should anticipate a role that demands broad systems thinking, deep collaboration and sustained leadership presence to translate strategy into coordinated execution across the Rochester practice.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business, health care administration or related field and five years healthcare management experience required.
  • Minimum of three-five years of experience in Mayo Clinic Leadership, preferably involving inpatient and outpatient operational activities.

  • Demonstrated competencies in leadership, management, operations and communication.
  • Outstanding broad-based experience in physician and senior leader interaction.
  • Broad knowledge of healthcare industry and a basic knowledge of Mayo.
  • Evidence of ability to provide visionary leadership.
  • Evidence of strong analytical ability, solid judgment, and capacity to think strategically.
  • Ability to understand the clinical operational nature of the Mayo practice (versus a solely financial perspective).
  • High integrity as evidenced by broad valuing of all people and groups.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and high energy level.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage within a physician led, committee oriented environment.
