About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody excellence, compassion, teamwork and purpose to join its leadership team in the role of Vice Chair of Clinical and Academic Administration-Emergency Medicine. This leader is responsible for directing and managing the administrative, fiscal, research, education, and clinical operations of the department. They will provide significant input into the formulation of department and clinical policies and procedures, and in dyad partnership with the Chair, develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives. The Vice Chair is responsible for the implementation of IUHP, IUSoM, and Indiana University policies and procedures; preparation and analysis of budgets and financial reports; administration of personnel policies and procedures; design and implementation of administrative systems; leadership in quality improvement activities; acquisition, maintenance, and inventory of department equipment and supplies; compliance; IT security; and oversight of space allocation, maintenance, and renovation of the department's physical environment. This role requires a broad range of skills and the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative to align the department's goals with those of the School of Medicine, Indiana University, IU Health, and IU Health Physicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or a related area.
  • 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in financial and clinical group practice administration.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in finance; operations; strategic planning and community relations, preferably in an academic health system.
  • Well-developed administrative and management skills including demonstrated knowledge of group practice management.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Knowledge and commitment to service excellence and a patient-centered focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Master's degree in Health Administration.
  • MS Office including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, computer skills and database knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Directing and managing the administrative, fiscal, research, education and clinical operations of the department.

  • Overseeing space allocation, maintenance and renovation of the department's physical environment.
  • Aligning the department's goals with the School of Medicine, Indiana University, IU Health and IU Health Physicians' goals by establishing systems to ensure alignment.
