Veterinary Technician
About The Position
Marion Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join their progressive, high-quality two-doctor practice. The hospital focuses on small animals, pocket pets, reptiles, and birds, offering a wide range of services including preventative care, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, emergency and urgent care, in-house diagnostics, digital radiology, acupuncture, boarding, and grooming. They are an AAHA accredited practice committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care and effective communication with pet parents. They collaborate with the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine for complex cases and refer after-hours emergencies to PETS.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred
- Must be able to properly restrain pets
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset
Nice To Haves
- Proficient in sample collection
- Proficient in obtaining medical histories
- Proficient in processing laboratory tests and radiographs
- Proficient in anesthesia monitoring
Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
