Veterinary Technician - ER - 2nd Shift
About The Position
Pieper Veterinary is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician for its emergency department in Middletown, Connecticut. The role works a second-shift schedule, either Wednesday through Saturday or Sunday through Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Holidays are required. Pay is $21.00–$30.00 per hour based on experience, plus a shift differential. The technician provides hands-on ICU care and works closely with board-certified criticalists and emergency veterinarians. Pieper Veterinary is a VECCS Level 1 Certified Hospital. The position also involves communicating compassionately with pet parents, supporting teammates, and helping improve processes.
Requirements
- Experience in a fast-paced emergency or ICU setting.
- Skill in restraint, triage, patient monitoring, ventilator support, anesthesia, venipuncture, and IV placement.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology and/or CVT license.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on ICU care, including treatments, vital-sign monitoring, and advanced diagnostics.
- Work closely with board-certified criticalists and emergency veterinarians.
- Closely monitor patients using advanced equipment.
- Communicate compassionately with pet parents.
- Help train teammates and improve processes.
