About The Position

Newton Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Level II Veterinary Technician to join their team in a full-time daytime position. As a 24/7 emergency and general practice hospital, Newton offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload while continuing to strengthen technical skills alongside an experienced and supportive veterinary team. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, is comfortable working independently with core technician responsibilities, and enjoys being part of a collaborative, fast-paced hospital environment.

Requirements

Previous veterinary technician experience and a well-rounded technical skillset
Comfortable handling routine technician responsibilities with increasing independence
Experience with surgery, ER abdominal surgeries, anesthesia, dentistry, and hospitalized patient care
Dependable, organized, and able to prioritize in a busy hospital environment
Communicates well and enjoys working as part of a team
Eager to continue learning and developing their technical skills
Able to work Saturdays as part of their regular schedule

Responsibilities

Venipuncture and blood collection
IV catheter placement
Patient restraint and handling
Medication administration
Laboratory sample collection and processing
Anesthesia monitoring
Surgical preparation and assistance
Comfortable with surgical prep and anesthesia monitoring for ER abdominal surgery
Dental procedures and patient care
Hospitalized patient treatments and nursing care
Diagnostic imaging assistance
Accurate medical documentation
Recognizing changes in patient condition and communicating concerns to the medical team
Providing compassionate care to patients and clear communication with clients
Working collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and veterinary assistants
