About The Position

Park Veterinary Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician. This full-service animal hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team committed to providing the best care for pets and their families. The Veterinary Technicians are responsible for performing basic medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.

Requirements

  • At least two years of previous experience as Vet Technician is required.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to act as a team player.
  • Basic veterinary medical terminology required.

Nice To Haves

  • CVT is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
  • Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
  • Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow-up.
  • Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.
  • Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
  • Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
  • Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
  • Dispense veterinarian approved medication and patient food, print treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x-ray and lab labels, record communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian using practice software.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarian.
  • Perform tech appointments, such as pedicures, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, routine lab work, subcutaneous fluids, etc. as deemed appropriate by practice.
  • Assist doctors in medical and diagnostic procedures.
  • Place IV catheters and begin fluid therapy when required by veterinarian.
  • Assist in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia with doctor present.
  • Assist in operating room, recovery, and post-op nursing care as requested by veterinarian.
  • Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
