About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated full-time Veterinary Technicians to join our Trauma Hospital team. This role is based at our state-of-the-art Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus. Requirements

  • High school diploma OR GED.
  • Completion of a veterinary technician program OR 2 years of experience at a veterinary hospital or clinic. CVT not required. Education may substitute for experience.
  • Must be able to assist veterinarians in all aspects of AHS' medical services including surgery, radiology, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, client education, clinic asepsis, fluid therapy and the administration of prescribed medications.
  • Must know phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, pharmacology and perform safe and humane animal handling.
  • Must be proficient in anesthesiology, vaccine administration, implanting microchips, prep, fluid therapy, laboratory procedures, injections, and medication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary.
  • Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software for use with animals in shelter.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to be compliant with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the operations of the Shelter Medical teams, championing AHS' core values of innovation, compassion, and excellence.
  • Assist veterinarians in the treatment of animals and independently evaluate animals to determine adoptability.
  • Work alongside the team to ensure high levels of patient care.
  • Act as a relationship builder who collaborates with veterinarians, veterinarian technicians, and department leaders to solve problems and implement positive changes.
