About The Position

Sebastian Animal & Bird Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital that treats 50% exotics (small mammals, birds, and reptiles) as well as standard domestic animals (dogs and cats). We offer digital radiographs, ultrasound, full in-house lab, and laser therapy. We work closely with outside reference laboratories for specimen analysis. We also offer consultations with outside and mobile imaging services for cases that require further evaluation. Our animal hospital has an experienced support staff and is seeking a veterinary technician who is looking for a family work environment and be a team member to help provide good quality care to all our patients. We offer a superior work-life balance with no after hour emergencies. We highly value our client-staff communication and hope to foster long-term relationships with pets and their pet parents. The hospital has been established for over 30 years and has retained some clients from the beginning. We are seeking a compassionate Veterinarian Technician to join the team at our successful clinic. Veterinary Technician responsibilities include assisting the Veterinarian with surgeries and procedures, coordinating animal care, and monitoring animal recovery. You will work closely with the entire clinic staff to ensure the health and well-being of all of our pet patients. Our hospital is equipped with in-house laboratory analyzers, a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, full digital radiology and ultrasound, therapeutic laser, and a closely supervised hospitalization area. Responsibilities

  • Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic
  • Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history
  • Take vital signs
  • Take blood samples and process IH or as send out
  • Set up and potentially read fecal samples, cytology dif quick and gram stains as directed
  • Take digital x-rays
  • Assist with surgeries and monitor animals after surgery
  • Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients
  • Keep accurate patient records
  • Assisting the Veterinarian with surgeries and procedures
  • Coordinating animal care
  • Monitoring animal recovery
