Veterinary Technician - ER - Overnights
About The Position
Pieper Veterinary is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician for its emergency department at its Middletown, Connecticut hospital. This overnight position is scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Holidays are required. Pay is $21.00–$30.00 per hour based on experience, plus a shift differential. The technician will provide hands-on intensive care for emergency and ICU patients, collaborate with board-certified Criticalists and emergency veterinarians, monitor patients using advanced equipment, communicate compassionately with pet parents, and help train teammates and improve processes. Pieper Veterinary is a VECCS Level 1 Certified Hospital.
Requirements
- Experience in a fast-paced emergency or ICU setting.
- Skills in restraint, triage, patient monitoring, ventilator support, anesthesia, venipuncture, and IV placement.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology and/or CVT license.
Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on ICU care, including treatments, vital-sign monitoring, and advanced diagnostics.
- Work closely with board-certified Criticalists and emergency veterinarians.
- Monitor patients closely using advanced equipment.
- Communicate compassionately with pet parents.
- Help train teammates and improve processes.
