About The Position

The Cat Doctor is hiring a Veterinary Technician. Our veterinary technicians are valuable members of The Cat Doctor team. They provide quality care for Portland's cats and have fun doing it! All team members should love cats as much as we do! We are looking for an experienced veterinary technician who loves to sweet-talk kitties and give the best care to all who walk through our door! We are looking for experience in Technician work as well as someone who is trained in receptionist as well. Veterinary technicians are under the direct guidance and supervision of the Hospital Manager and Chief of Staff.

Requirements

  • Experience in Technician work
  • Trained in receptionist duties
  • Critical thinking, curiosity, and a can-do attitude
  • Reliability and professionalism in a fast-paced setting

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas.
  • Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions.
  • Gather detailed histories for each patient.
  • Perform physical assessments and record your observations.
  • Safe and effective feline-friendly handling and restraint
  • Knowledge of preventative care and vaccines
  • Attentive monitoring of surgical patients
  • Perform dental prophy and obtain dental radiographs
  • Obtaining diagnostics - including radiographs, phlebotomy, and sample collection, and performing in-house lab work
  • Professional, compassionate communication with clients and staff
  • Succinct documentation of patient records and client interactions
