About The Position

Metairie Small Animal Hospital (MSAH) is seeking skilled Veterinary Technicians and experienced Veterinary Assistants for multiple openings, particularly for those with experience or interest in ICU, ER, and surgery. They are looking for individuals with the right attitude, strong technical skills, and a desire to grow with a rapidly evolving hospital. MSAH is a 75-year-old veterinary hospital in Metairie, Louisiana, offering general practice, specialty surgery, emergency services, and a 24-hour ICU. They are a Fear-Free and Cat-Friendly certified hospital with residency-trained surgeons and are expanding their services in oncology, CT, ICU, and ER.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of veterinary experience is ideal
• Experience in ER, ICU, surgery, or critical care strongly preferred
• Credentialed (RVT/LVT/CVT) preferred but not required
• Strong technical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented mindset with a positive, collaborative attitude
• Interest in learning, growing, and contributing to hospital expansion

Nice To Haves

• Credentialed (RVT/LVT/CVT) technicians are preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures and anesthesia monitoring
• Perform dental procedures, including scaling and radiographs
• Support ICU and hospitalized patient care
• Take and process digital radiographs (x-rays)
• Perform venipuncture, bloodwork, and lab diagnostics
• Place and maintain IV catheters
• Provide patient care, restraint, and treatment support
• Communicate effectively with team members and clients
