What You’ll Do As a Veterinary Technician - Urgent Care at MVUCS, you’ll be a crucial member of our care team, ensuring pets receive timely attention and top-notch treatment.

Requirements

  • Experience in a veterinary setting (general practice, urgent care, or emergency preferred)
  • Strong clinical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and basic diagnostics
  • Excellent communication abilities, with a commitment to empathetic client service
  • A calm, organized demeanor, essential for navigating a busy urgent care environment
  • A team-focused attitude, welcoming collaboration with colleagues of all skill levels and specialties
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to learn and adapt to new protocols and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Triage and assess patients presenting with urgent needs, working closely with veterinarians to prioritize treatments.
  • Provide hands-on nursing care, including administering medications, placing IV catheters, and monitoring patient vitals.
  • Perform diagnostics such as blood draws, in-house lab tests, and basic imaging to aid in quick, accurate treatment decisions.
  • Communicate clearly with pet owners, updating them on their pet’s condition, next steps, and home-care instructions.
  • Maintain a well-stocked, organized work area, ensuring essential supplies and equipment are readily available.
  • Collaborate with the entire veterinary team, contributing ideas to enhance efficiency, patient comfort, and client satisfaction.
