About The Position

Are you a passionate Veterinary Technician eager to provide exceptional care to pets in their time of need? Join our Urgent Care team at Peak Veterinary Referral Center and become part of something truly extraordinary! Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts Start times are either 8a or 9a. One weekend shift/week (either Saturday or Sunday) Includes 2-3 holidays per year Compensation is determined pending a skills assessment: Starting compensation would be $20, but can go as high as $34 for an experienced, level III technician.

Responsibilities

  • Triage & conduct initial patient assessments, including gathering medical history and vital signs, and effectively communicate findings to the veterinarian.
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with the veterinarian and reviewing with clients to ensure they understand.
  • Perform various diagnostic procedures and sample collections, such as ear swabs, cytology, venipuncture, IVC placement, cystocentesis, urinary catheterization, in-house laboratory analyses, radiography – submitting for consults.
  • Provide skilled patient handling and restraint during examinations, as well as attentive monitoring during sedated procedures such as wound management, laceration care, porcupine quill removal and urinary obstructions.
  • Offer compassionate support to clients throughout the euthanasia process, guiding them through the paperwork, procedure, and after care options.
  • Administer outpatient treatments, including subcutaneous fluid administration and medication delivery, and ensure thorough review of medications and discharge instructions with client’s post-visit.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the hospital environment, including regular kennel cleaning, laundry management, and upkeep of treatment areas and equipment.
