About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. This role is responsible for providing nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. The technician will also be involved in post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. A rotating on-call schedule is required once training has been completed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
  • Ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
  • Ability to perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal.
  • Ability to set up intravenous fluids.
  • Ability to administer subcutaneous fluids.
  • Ability to operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
  • Ability to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
  • Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
  • Must possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.
