Veterinary Technician, Oncology
About The Position
South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES) is hiring a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology service in Asheville, North Carolina. This is an opportunity to work hands-on with advanced oncology cases in a collaborative specialty hospital that prioritizes patient care, technician growth, and work-life balance. SAVES is a leading referral and emergency hospital serving Western North Carolina. Our team includes board-certified specialists and experienced emergency clinicians dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through advanced diagnostics, innovative treatment options, and collaborative medicine. Our services include Emergency & Critical Care, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Oncology. Our specialty and emergency teams are supported by advanced diagnostic capabilities including MRI, CT, ultrasonography, digital radiography, and endoscopy. At SAVES, Veterinary Technicians work directly with experienced specialists and have opportunities to develop advanced technical and clinical skills through specialty case exposure, mentorship, continuing education, and collaborative patient care.
Requirements
- Current RVT, LVT, or CVT credential required.
- Strong technical and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced specialty hospital
- Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
Nice To Haves
- Specialty or Oncology experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and treatment for Oncology patients
- Administer medications, chemotherapy treatments, and supportive care
- Assist veterinarians with diagnostics and procedures
- Monitor anesthesia and sedation patients
- Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory collection, and patient monitoring
- Educate and support clients throughout treatment plans
- Collaborate with Oncology doctors and hospital leadership
- Help optimize workflows and patient care processes within the Oncology service

- $28–$35/hour based on experience
