About The Position

As a Veterinary Technician in the Internal Medicine department at SAGE Campbell, you will be responsible for assisting with diagnostic procedures, providing compassionate care and monitoring for admitted animals, administering medications and treatments under veterinarian supervision, communicating with pet owners, maintaining medical records, assisting veterinarians during procedures, staying updated on advancements in internal medicine, collaborating with other veterinary professionals, and advocating for patient well-being. Requirements

  • General understanding and experience with small animal restraint with a focus on cats and dogs
  • High school diploma
  • Calm, professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital.
  • Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.
  • Understand and follow established hospital processes and procedures (i.e. SOPs)
  • Able to work well independently as well as with a team.
  • Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on internal medicine.
  • Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures including blood work, imaging, and endoscopy.
  • Provide compassionate care and monitoring for animals admitted to the internal medicine service.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and wound care treatments under veterinarian supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on their animal's condition and treatment options.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
  • Assist veterinarians during procedures such as biopsies and aspiration cytology.
  • Stay updated on advancements in internal medicine through continuing education.
  • Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
