About The Position

Copeland Veterinary Hospital, Cookeville’s only 24/7 emergency animal hospital, is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians or Veterinary Assistants to join their team. This role focuses on emergency medicine and critical care, offering an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The position is full-time with an overnight shift, focusing on saving lives each shift. They are looking for skilled, compassionate, and motivated veterinary professionals with a strong interest in emergency and critical care. Both licensed technicians and experienced assistants are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

1+ years experience as an Emergency Veterinary Technician/Assistant
Overnight experience is a plus
Veterinary Assistants with strong clinical skills and a desire to grow
Confident in venipuncture, catheter placement, surgical prep
Basic knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, CPR, fluid calculations
Clear communication (verbal & written)
Calm under pressure and emotionally resilient
Detail-oriented, dependable, and a team player

Nice To Haves

ER and/or ICU experience is preferred
LVT, RVT, or CVT preferred (but not required)

Responsibilities

Emergency Triage & Stabilization: Quickly assess and stabilize emergency cases
ICU Monitoring: Track vitals, manage pain, fluid therapy, and oxygen support
Surgical Support: Prep patients, assist in anesthesia, monitor recovery
Diagnostics: Perform radiographs, run lab samples, and interpret results
Medication Administration: Deliver IV, IM, SQ, and PO meds accurately
Client Communication: Provide compassionate, clear updates and discharge instructions
Workflow Coordination: Prioritize care, maintain accurate records in EMRs
Team Collaboration: Work closely with ER DVMs and overnight teammates
