Experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician
About The Position
Lincoln Square Veterinary Hospital is hiring an Experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician for our Tuesday overnight shift. This role is ideal for an experienced technician who is confident working independently, has excellent judgment and a strong work ethic, and takes pride in providing attentive patient care when the rest of the hospital is quiet. While our hospital is not open to the public 24 hours a day, our commitment to our patients never stops. We provide 24/7 nursing care for hospitalized and boarding pets, and our overnight technician plays an essential role in keeping those patients safe, comfortable, and cared for throughout the night. This position offers the opportunity to use expertise with meaningful independence while remaining an essential part of the larger medical team.
Requirements
- Previous veterinary technician experience required
- Must be comfortable working independently and providing overnight care with a high degree of autonomy
- Confidence working independently with a high degree of autonomy
- Strong patient-monitoring and nursing-care skills
- Ability to perform prescribed treatments accurately and reliably
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills
- Sound judgment and the ability to recognize changes in a patient’s condition
- Dependability and an excellent work ethic
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Compassionate and attentive approach to hospitalized and boarding pets
- Ability to follow treatment plans, safety procedures, and hospital protocols
- Availability to work the Tuesday overnight shift
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive overnight nursing care for hospitalized and boarding patients
- Monitor patients throughout the shift and recognize changes in their condition
- Perform prescribed treatments and patient-care tasks
- Ensure patients remain safe, clean, comfortable, and appropriately cared for overnight
- Follow established treatment plans and hospital protocols
- Maintain accurate patient information and treatment documentation
- Keep patient-care areas clean, organized, and ready for the medical team
- Use sound judgment and technical knowledge while working independently
- Communicate important patient updates and concerns to the appropriate members of the veterinary team
