Veterinary Technician Assistant
About The Position
Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is seeking dependable and compassionate Veterinary Technician Assistants to support patient care and maintain a clean, safe, and organized hospital environment. The role is suited to people interested in veterinary medicine, including those considering or pursuing education in veterinary technology. The clinic is a full-service animal hospital serving Bucks County, providing routine wellness care and 24-hour emergency services for companion animals and select large animals. Assistants work alongside veterinarians and veterinary technicians and help ensure the comfort and well-being of patients. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available across day, evening, and overnight shifts.
Requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependability, organization, and willingness to learn.
- Professional attitude and a positive approach to patient care.
- Ability to perform physical job duties, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to work safely and comfortably around dogs, cats, and occasional large animal patients.
Nice To Haves
- Previous animal-handling or animal-care experience is helpful but not required.
- Interest in veterinary medicine or pursuing a career in veterinary technology is encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care and comfort to hospitalized animals.
- Walk dogs and assist with routine patient care.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, litter boxes, and treatment areas.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, and general housekeeping.
- Wash dishes, food bowls, and laundry.
- Restock supplies and maintain organized work areas.
- Prepare examination rooms and treatment areas before and after appointments and procedures.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations and treatments under the supervision of veterinary medical staff.
- Support client visits and assist veterinary team members with daily hospital operations.
