Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements through examinations and interviews.
• Assist during operations and support animal examinations by assembling required supplies and instruments.
• Feed and care for animals.
• Complete laboratory tests, studies, and diagnostic imaging.
• Take vital signs and collect samples.
• Administer medications, drugs, and vaccines; obtain and verify medications.
• Bandage and wrap wounds, place catheters, and complete local or regional anesthesia.
• Prepare surgical tables and instruments and maintain sterile conditions.
• Explain animal status to owners.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and records.
• Clean animal cages and equipment.
• Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing operating areas, verifying medication shelf life, and complying with legal regulations.
• Take ownership of assigned work and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
