About The Position

This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position at MSPCA-Angell West, a non-profit 24-hour emergency and referral satellite hospital located in Waltham, MA. The primary responsibility of the surgery technician or assistant is to provide the highest degree of support to the staff surgeons, anesthesia technicians, support staff, and animals admitted to the hospital's surgical service. The ideal candidate will excel in interpersonal communication and multi-tasking, be reliable, independent, and able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment with a positive attitude. They should be able to recognize the needs of patients and staff, and will be involved in the continuous training of new surgery staff members and visitors. Patient recovery is a key duty.

Requirements

At least 1 year of veterinary technician/assistant experience in a surgical environment.
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required for a technician role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must include a cover letter showcasing writing skills.

Responsibilities

Communicating and working closely with all staff members and visitors.
Being able to work independently and within a group depending on the needs of the situation.
Providing and ensuring quality patient care peri-operatively.
Assisting anesthesia technicians and others with inductions and recoveries when directed.
Recovering patients with diligence and compassion.
