About The Position

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) in Portland, Maine, is offering externship opportunities for DVM students. This program provides valuable exposure to advanced patient care in emergency and specialty medicine, allowing students to work alongside experienced clinicians, specialists, technicians, and support staff. Externs can gain experience in emergency and critical care, specialty medicine and surgery, diagnostic imaging, inpatient care, clinical decision-making, and client communication. Students will participate in rounds, observe and assist with procedures, and develop practical clinical skills in a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • Current DVM students enrolled in an accredited veterinary school.
  • Students interested in emergency, specialty, or advanced small animal medicine.
  • Motivated team players who are eager to learn and grow in a collaborative clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on clinical experience in emergency and specialty medicine.
