Advanced Veterinary Care (AVC) is a brand new state-of-the-art urgent care and specialty hospital located in the beautiful and always growing city of Orlando, Florida. Requirements

  • Prior veterinary experience is required.
  • Proficient in drug calculation and strong anesthetic skills.
  • Confident with phlebotomy, placing iv catheters, nasogastric tubes, radiographs, processing in house labs.
  • Comfortable with standard anesthetic protocols, induction, maintenance, and monitoring of anesthesia.
  • Display competency in general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for patients.
  • Must be comfortable to work on their feet, able to keel, bend to work with surgery patients.
  • Applicant should be able to lift patients and inventory up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed (CVT) technicians at a level 3 & above preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a specialty/referral hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Increase efficiency of the doctor staff by providing care and support to patients, clients, and hospital staff.
  • Provide excellent medical support and compassionate care for patients and clients.
  • Act as a point of communication between clients and internal hospital staff regarding the status of patients in hospital.
  • Call clients to update on patient status, when requested by doctor.
  • Obtain pDVM records for inpatient transfers and new appointments.
  • Provide owners with financial updates.
  • Cross reference and double check charges for procedures, diagnostics and hospitalization for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Assist technicians in processing lab samples and creating pending communications.
  • Help technicians with filling medications and food samples.
  • Complete after appointment tasks such as emailing clients links/resources discussed or placing orders on online pharmacy for medications or food.
  • Assist technicians by restraining patients for procedures if requested.
  • Check messages & IMED email account and follow up if applicable.
  • Contact clients from recent visits to get updates upon request of doctor.
  • Start discharge instructions for patients going home.
  • Send pDVMs inpatient notifications and clinical summaries when completed by the DVM.
  • Discharge patients.
  • Instruct clients on the care of patients at home, warnings or things to look for and/or expect post-procedurally, as well as the timing of recheck appointments.
  • Discuss medications (including timing of next dose) with owners and send home PLUMB handouts for all medications going home.
  • Discuss medication administration or application and potential side effects with owners as directed by doctors.
  • Help technicians with demos (such as SQ fluid, injections, insulin, etube).
  • Enter communication notes in patient files of all relevant phone or in-person conversations with clients, especially when notifying them of lab results.
  • Transfer notes on ezyvet from dictation software.
  • Verify and/or witness client’s statements regarding procedures, including euthanasia.
  • Accurately scan and attach all paper medical records to ezyVet.
  • Assist technicians in setting up for procedures, inducing/recovering patients and cleaning up equipment used.
  • Possess sufficient strength and assertiveness to effectively restrain patients and ensure the safety of clients and personnel.
  • Appt prep after obtaining pDVM records.
  • Obtain and record patient histories.
  • Be an excellent representation of Service to our clients in all circumstances.
  • Prior to discharge, verify that all catheters have been removed from the patients and that patients are clean with no body fluids or excrement present.
  • Assist technicians in setting up for procedures, inducing/recovering patients and cleaning up equipment used.
