About The Position

VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group) is seeking a Veterinary Sonographer to provide ultrasound support for its hospitals and training facilities. The role involves working closely with emergency doctors to perform same-day ultrasound scans for pets, adapting to various patient types and scans, and contributing to the training and development of ultrasound skills for colleagues. The Sonographer will also assist in coordinating education opportunities, inspiring others to enhance their ultrasound skills, and supporting hospital operations as needed.

Requirements

Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT), diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS), and/or equivalent experience (e.g., sonographer course certificates).
3+ years of veterinary ultrasound experience.
Previous training experience and the ability to teach and develop doctors, nurses, and fellow sonographers.
Comfortable mentoring others and giving/receiving feedback from colleagues.
Adaptability to changing environments.
Excellent communication skills with peers, customers, and VEGgies.

Eagerness to grow as a sonographer through training and continuing education.
Willingness to travel to regional hospitals and off-site training facilities.

Responsibilities

Perform ultrasound studies and facilitate ultrasound training at home and regional hospitals.
Maintain positive relationships with teleconsultation radiologists and accept feedback.
Ensure training content aligns with VEG culture, mission, and vision, and reflects accurate sonographic techniques.
Track doctor and nursing team skills using a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist.
Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation to improve VEG's ultrasound training programs.
Meet regularly with medical directors, nursing trainer, and director of radiology education to discuss program development and training needs.
Meet regularly with hospital manager and medical director to discuss training protocols, schedules, and team concerns.
Coordinate weekly schedule to balance floor shifts and training responsibilities.
Assist in developing ultrasound curriculum materials (PowerPoints, videos, simulations, assessments).
Provide educational demonstrations on various ultrasound topics to doctors and nurses at other VEG locations.
