Veterinary Rehabilitation Therapist

The Rehabilitation department focuses on providing the most advanced therapeutic care while working with the client, referral partner, and other MedVet specialists through all stages of the patient’s treatment. In our state-of-the-art facilities, we offer advanced care and procedures from a team who is passionate about working at the forefront of rehabilitation therapy and technology. The candidate should be enthusiastic to work with patients that have varying degrees of mobility issues including orthopedic conditions, neurologic disease, those needing geriatric support, and end of life care. The Rehabilitation department focuses on improving strength and function by combining physical therapeutic exercise with modalities like hydrotherapy, cold laser therapy, shockwave therapy and more. This team is perfect for someone who enjoys preserving the human animal bond, and partnering with clients to help their pet feel their best.
Requirements
- Dog training background preferred, previous rehabilitation experience desired
- Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Delegates team responsibilities as appropriate to team members (rounding cases, planning and managing diagnostic scheduling and information, etc.)
- May act as a mentor or trainer for team members
Responsibilities
- Perform patient therapies using multiple modalities including underwater treadmill, laser therapy, land therapy and Assisi loop
- Prioritize caseload and patient care, prepare and review charts for appropriate paperwork, as well as ensure accurate documentation
- Restrain and assist with examinations and therapies
- Prepare prescriptions, fit harnesses and provide needed information for clients
- Discuss rehab therapy and recommendations, as well as address client questions and concerns
