About The Position

East Los Angeles Dog and Cat Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Receptionist to join their well-established, progressive, and fast-paced general practice small animal hospital. The hospital accepts appointments and walk-ins and prides itself on a positive work environment with daily camaraderie and strong support among its close-knit staff. The role involves maintaining the visual appeal of the reception area, greeting clients and patients, answering questions, triaging concerns, managing calls and emails, scheduling appointments, and processing check-ins and check-outs. Receptionists are expected to provide friendly emotional support to clients during difficult times, handling various medical outcomes with compassion and discretion. The position requires the ability to tolerate unpleasant odors and noises and may involve exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases. The hospital offers opportunities for growth through virtual and hands-on training and continuing development.

Requirements

Minimum 1+ years of veterinary receptionist experience
Compassionate, calm team player with a positive attitude
Exceptional multitasking abilities
Strong communication skills
Highly organized
Excellent computer proficiency
Self-motivated, with a desire to continuously learn and grow in your role
Ability to handle emotionally charged situations with professionalism and resilience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in difficult or emotional circumstances
Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and manage multiple priorities effectively
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases

Nice To Haves

Some previous veterinary assistant experience is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

Maintain the visual appeal of the hospital reception area
Greet and welcome clients and patients
Answer questions and triage client concerns
Answer calls or emails and direct to the appropriate party for resolution
Schedule appointments to maximize efficiency and daily flow
Check in and check out clients
Process payments
Offer friendly emotional support in a compassionate and discreet manner during times of need to clients
Be comfortable with various medical outcomes
