Requirements

  • Animal care experience required.
  • Client/customer interaction experience required.
  • Receptionist experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use medical abbreviations.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Comfort working in a busy, team-oriented veterinary environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and coworkers.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a client-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients warmly and professionally.
  • Answer phones, take messages, and respond to basic client questions.
  • Understand the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats.
  • Recommend appropriate services and provide estimates to clients.
  • Differentiate and prioritize routine cases and emergency cases, alerting staff as needed.
  • Understand and use special record notations and make appropriate notes in patient records.
  • Maintain medical records and understand medical record filing systems.
  • Process payments, prepare deposits, and assist with invoicing.
  • Support client education and help create a positive client experience.
