Experienced Veterinary Receptionist
About The Position
Quality Veterinary Care Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Receptionist for their fast-paced, 4-doctor general small animal practice in Elmont, NY. The hospital offers comprehensive services including preventative care, surgery, dentistry, in-house diagnostics, digital radiology, and ultrasonography. This role is crucial for maintaining the hospital's reception area, welcoming clients and patients, managing communications, scheduling appointments, and processing check-ins and check-outs. The receptionist will also provide emotional support to clients during difficult times and must be comfortable with various medical outcomes, unpleasant odors, noises, and potential exposure to animal-related hazards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year veterinary experience preferred
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Highly organized and possess computer skills
- Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, anesthesia monitoring etc.
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the visual appeal of the hospital reception area
- Greet and welcome clients and patients
- Answer questions and triage client concerns
- Answer calls or emails and direct to the appropriate party for resolution
- Schedule appointments to maximize efficiency and daily flow
- Check in and check out clients and process payments
- Offer friendly emotional support in a compassionate and discreet manner during times of need to our clients
- Be comfortable with various medical outcomes
- Be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
