Veterinary Kennel Technician
About The Position
Fairlea Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Kennel Technician to provide care, feeding, medication, and cleaning for patients in the hospital and clients in the boarding facility. This role involves a variety of tasks including cleaning, laundry, feeding, walking dogs, and administering medications. The technician will also be responsible for restocking supplies, assisting with post-operative patients, supporting doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams, and maintaining proper records of patient care. Training will be provided for cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments.
Requirements
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
- Proper methods of animal restraint.
- Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
- Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc).
- Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
- Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
Responsibilities
- Care, feeding, and medicating of patients in hospital and boarding facility.

- Assisting with post-operative patients.
- Assisting doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams.
- Proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues that arise.
- Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments.
