About The Position
MedVet’s Emergency Clinician Mentorship Program (ECMP) is a paid program for new or recent veterinary graduates seeking to begin a career in emergency medicine. It combines mentored emergency-room experience with specialty rotations and one-on-one training. Training progresses through direct, indirect, and independent phases, with rotations in critical care, radiology, internal medicine, and surgery. Participants receive didactics, access to medical journals and textbooks through OVID, and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training. The program provides a full doctor salary from day one, with salary plus production after the training period. After successfully completing ECMP, participants move into a full Emergency Clinician role within MedVet, a veterinarian-owned and -led network of specialty and emergency hospitals.
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Licensed or license-eligible to practice veterinary medicine in the state of the assigned hospital.
- Passion for emergency medicine and continuous learning.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Submit two letters of recommendation from clinical faculty familiar with the applicant’s skills and professionalism.
- Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Participate in mentored emergency-room clinical training through direct, indirect, and independent phases.
- Complete specialty rotations in critical care, radiology, internal medicine, and surgery.
- Participate in didactics and POCUS training.
- After successfully completing the program, transition into a full Emergency Clinician role.
