About The Position

This position provides support for the general administrative operations of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories unit. Responsibilities include reception duties, scheduling, producing reports and correspondence, assisting in fiscal activities, and rendering consistent office support. May assist with organizing meetings, travel, and events. The Veterinary Health System aims to transform service units into a comprehensive veterinary medical center, leveraging Colorado State University's top ranking in veterinary medicine to provide high-quality care, achieve outstanding clinical outcomes, and deliver excellent customer service, employee satisfaction, and medical advancements through service, diagnostics, research, and innovation. The CSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories (VDL) faculty and staff are experts offering comprehensive diagnostic services. The VDL's mission is to provide timely, accurate, and pertinent animal disease diagnostic services and educational outreach to veterinarians, animal industries, and animal interests, contributing to the goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the University through research and education.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Evidence of high volume/speed keyboarding skills while comparing and copying/posting accurate data, as well as analyzing/coordinating data.
  • Demonstrated clear and concise communication skills and attention to detail as evidenced from applicant’s written materials.
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).
  • Valid Driver’s License - Must possess or obtain a valid driver’s license by the employment start date and maintain such in good standing for duration of active employment.
  • Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
  • Must safely lift and carry items that weigh up to 50lbs.
  • Exposure to formalin & formalin-fixed tissues. This position handles samples that may contain infectious agents and must follow PPE guidelines and appropriate standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver service excellence to external clients by providing detailed information on specimen requirements, test pricing, turnaround times, and result availability, while addressing a wide range of inquiries with professionalism and care.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to fulfill requests and support operational efficiency across laboratory services, including data updates, customer communications, and information sharing.
  • Accurately manage high-volume data entry and invoicing processes while maintaining strict attention to detail.
  • Process credit card transactions and respond to client inquiries related to billing and account activity.
  • Contribute to team success by performing additional responsibilities as needed.
