Experienced Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Trinity Oaks Pet Wellness Center is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced, multi-doctor general animal practice. This role involves a wide range of duties to provide comprehensive care to patients, including preventative care, surgery, urgent care, diagnostics, radiology, ultrasonography, acupuncture, and boarding. The hospital is described as well-run, efficient, supportive, and family-style, with a highly experienced and tenured staff. The position offers opportunities for growth through virtual and hands-on training and continuing development.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a Veterinary Assistant
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Must be able to properly restrain pets
- Proficient in sample collection
- Proficient in obtaining medical histories
- Proficient in processing laboratory tests
- Proficient in processing radiographs
- Proficient in anesthesia monitoring
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
Nice To Haves
- Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
