About The Position

Parkwood Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The position supports progressive, compassionate medical and surgical care for canine and feline patients. The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, with the same day off each week and rotating Saturdays. Salary is $13.00–$15.00 per hour, based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. Parkwood Animal Hospital and Boarding has served the Friendswood, Texas, area since 2009. Its services include wellness and preventive care, surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and critical care. The modern facility includes six exam rooms and equipment such as digital and dental radiography, ultrasonography, in-house laboratory diagnostics, and surgical and therapeutic lasers. Requirements

At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
