About The Position

VCA Santa Anita Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support its Doctors and Technician team at a busy, AAHA-accredited general practice in Monrovia, California. The role helps create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients and calls for a collaborative, service-minded team player with strong client communication skills and a commitment to high-quality veterinary medicine and compassionate care. The position involves supporting patient care and clinical procedures, maintaining accurate electronic medical records, communicating with and educating clients, and helping ensure the hospital is neat and clean. The role offers exposure to a diverse caseload, advanced imaging and monitoring tools, and opportunities for continuing education, transfer, specialization, and leadership. The position is full-time, in person, and pays $20.00–$25.00, depending on experience, education, certification, and other factors.

Requirements

Veterinary assistant experience; one year is preferred.
Experience and technical knowledge to support high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care.
Strong client listening and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as a team player.

Nice To Haves

One year of veterinary assistant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Differentiate routine cases from urgent and emergency cases through patient assessment.
Complete patient treatments in a timely manner.
Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters.
Assist with radiology and pharmacy tasks.
Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia.
Assist with dentistry and patient recovery.
Maintain electronic medical records with accurate, detailed data.
Communicate with and educate clients.
Provide compassionate care and a home away from home for pets in the hospital.
Maintain the hospital, including removing animal waste, and ensure it is neat and clean.
