Experienced Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Priority Pet Urgent Care is opening a brand-new, state-of-the-art urgent care hospital in Ankeny, IA, in late December 2026. We are open daily from 3pm to 12 midnight and are designed to provide convenient, high-quality care for pets with urgent medical needs while creating an exceptional experience for clients and team members. Our mission is to provide easy access to quality veterinary care while ensuring every client knows their pet is our priority. Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year experience required
- Must be able to properly restrain pets
- Evening and weekend shift availability
- Compassionate and calm team player
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset
Nice To Haves
- Proficient in sample collection
- Obtaining medical histories
- Processing laboratory tests and radiographs
- Anesthesia monitoring
Responsibilities
- Animal restraint
- Triage of incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
