About The Position

Priority Pet Urgent Care is opening a new, state-of-the-art urgent care hospital in Ankeny, IA, in late December 2026. We will be open daily from 3 pm to 12 am, providing convenient, high-quality care for pets with urgent medical needs. Our mission is to offer easy access to quality veterinary care while ensuring clients feel their pets are our priority. Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience as a Veterinary Assistant
Must be able to properly restrain pets
Evening and weekend shift availability
Compassionate and calm team player
Ability to multi-task
Strong communication and customer service skills
Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset

Nice To Haves

Proficient in sample collection
Obtaining medical histories
Processing laboratory tests and radiographs
Anesthesia monitoring

Responsibilities

Animal restraint
Triage of incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
