About The Position

SouthPark Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This role supports exceptional client and patient experiences across all aspects of hospital care. It's an opportunity for a versatile assistant who enjoys variety and wants to utilize and develop a well-rounded skillset in patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures. The practice works with a diverse range of patients, including dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, reptiles, and turtles, offering a chance to work with multiple species and expand clinical skills. They are looking for dependable, motivated candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask efficiently, anticipate team needs, communicate professionally, and take pride in delivering exceptional support.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant required
  • Proficiency in safe animal handling and stress-free restraint skills for dogs, cats, pocket pets, reptiles, and avian of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Proficiency in client communication and education
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, blood draws, and outpatient procedures
  • Ability to assist in surgical procedures and dental prophy's
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation

Responsibilities

  • Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
  • Providing safe, gentle patient handling and stress-free restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
