About The Position

Northside Veterinary Clinic is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The clinic is a full-service animal hospital in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, offering routine and emergency care as well as alternative therapies. The position pays $24–$27 per hour, depending on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. It averages 35–40 hours per week over four 10-hour shifts. Candidates must be available Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM–6:00 PM, and Saturdays, 8:45 AM–4:00 PM.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of veterinary assistant experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Availability for the stated weekday and Saturday schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe, sanitary environment.
