About The Position

PetCare Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support veterinary care at its Cincinnati-area hospital. The role includes assisting with patient care, diagnostics, treatment, and surgery, as well as communicating treatment plans to clients. The hospital treats dogs, cats, birds, and exotic pets. Training and continuing development opportunities are available through virtual and hands-on interactive programs.

Requirements

• Properly restrain pets.
• Demonstrate compassion, calmness, teamwork, multitasking, and strong communication skills.
• Be a self-starter with a desire to advance knowledge and skills.
• Be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises and potential exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of Veterinary Assistant experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze laboratory samples.
• Perform diagnostic imaging and process radiographs.
• Manage and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability.
• Administer medications.
• Communicate treatment plans effectively to clients.
• Prepare for and assist with surgery.
• Monitor and manage anesthesia.
