About The Position

VCA St. Mary's Animal Hospital in Lexington Park, Maryland is seeking a dedicated, caring Veterinary Assistant to join its AAHA-accredited, well-equipped practice. The hospital combines traditional medicine with alternative choices and provides services including wellness care, early disease detection, dentistry, elective and routine surgeries, digital radiography, in-house blood work, and advanced surgical procedures. The team focuses on compassionate client service, quality medicine, and creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients.

The Veterinary Assistant will support patient care and the client experience, using their skills to help provide exceptional care. The role may suit an experienced Veterinary Assistant or a Technician in training. VCA describes a supportive team environment and offers training and certification opportunities.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills.
• Team-oriented approach.
• Skills in venipuncture, radiology, patient assessment, dentistry, laboratory work, and pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care.
• Educate clients and support client care.
• Administer medications and support pharmacy activities.
• Collect and process laboratory samples.
• Perform diagnostic imaging.
• Prepare for and assist with surgery.
• Monitor anesthesia.
