About The Position

Walkertown Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support veterinary care in its full-service hospital. The role includes assisting with patient handling, diagnostics, medical and hospitalized patient care, client communication, and surgical and anesthetic procedures. The hospital provides opportunities for virtual and hands-on interactive training and continuing development, including growth toward advanced skills or another career move.

Requirements

A minimum of 1 year of Veterinary Assistant experience is preferred.
Be compassionate, calm, a team player, able to multitask, and a strong communicator.
Be able to properly restrain pets.
Be a self-starter with a desire to continue advancing knowledge and skills.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

Restrain pets.
Triage incoming patients.
Collect and analyze laboratory samples.
Perform diagnostic imaging.
Manage and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability.
Administer medications.
Communicate treatment plans effectively to clients.
Prepare for and assist with surgery.
Manage anesthesia.
