About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the team at All Community Animal Hospital. The role supports veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care and helps ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable. The assistant also helps maintain medical records, prepare and clean instruments and equipment, perform laboratory tests, support reception procedures, and keep the facility clean and well maintained. The position reports to the Practice Manager. Candidates should be friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, detail-oriented, self-motivated team players with effective oral and written communication and strong technical skills.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
High school diploma.
Friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, and self-motivated team player.
Attentive to detail, effective in oral and written communication, and demonstrates strong technical skills.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
Must frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
Must be able to use a computer system and a multi-line telephone.
Must be able to handle dogs on leashes and restrain animals during medical examinations.
Must be able to work around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and animal excretions.

Responsibilities

Help clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
Perform various laboratory tests.
Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
