Requirements

  • Experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Proficiency in animal restraint techniques.
  • Ability to perform basic laboratory tests.
  • Familiarity with veterinary software and record-keeping.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Compassion and dedication to animal welfare.
  • Physical ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Veterinary Assistant.
  • Experience with specific veterinary software (e.g., AVImark, Cornerstone).
  • Familiarity with Fear Free or Low-Stress Handling techniques.
  • Experience in a specialty or emergency veterinary setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures.
  • Provide compassionate care to animal patients.
  • Perform laboratory tests and analyses.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed.
  • Maintain medical records and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Educate pet owners on animal care and treatment plans.
  • Clean and maintain examination rooms and equipment.
  • Handle animal restraint and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist with surgical procedures and post-operative care.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging such as X-rays.
