Veterinary Assistant | Washington, DC You're prepping an exam room for a nervous rescue dog's first vet visit, drawing blood between appointments, and by early afternoon you're gently restraining a client's pet rabbit for a quick exam, because at CityPaws, patients come in every size and species. That's a normal day as a Veterinary Assistant at CityPaws Animal Hospital's 14th Street location. About the Practice CityPaws Animal Hospital's 14th Street location has served the U Street and Logan Circle neighborhoods of Washington, DC since 2006. Beyond cats and dogs, the team regularly cares for ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and gerbils, offering wellness care, dental services, diagnostics, and surgery for a genuinely wide range of patients. The hospital's mission centers on high-quality veterinary care delivered in a compassionate, welcoming environment. Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in a veterinary setting
- Comfortable assisting with exams, procedures, and daily patient care
- Strong communication skills with clients and teammates
Nice To Haves
- Experience or interest in handling exotic species
- Comfortable staying calm and steady during busy stretches
