About The Position

Best Care Pet Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role supports examinations, treatments, and surgeries; animal handling and daily care; basic laboratory work; clinic cleanliness; and communication with pet owners. The hospital provides diagnostic and preventative services, specialty and advanced care, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and specialty surgeries. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with rotating Saturdays. Shifts are 10 hours, two to four times per week. Salary is $16–$18 per hour, based on experience and skillset.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Enthusiasm, reliability, and interest in supporting high standards of animal care and customer service.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
