About The Position

Caring Hand Clarendon is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; handling animals; performing basic laboratory tasks; maintaining the clinic and medical records; and communicating with pet owners. The clinic is a large, well-equipped, AAHA-accredited, full-service hospital offering care that includes computerized patient records, digital radiography, and an in-house laboratory. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Salary is $20–$25 per hour, based on experience and skillset.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Enthusiasm and reliability.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
