About The Position

Moffett Veterinary Hospital provides services for dogs and cats, including preventive care, general and some orthopedic surgery, dental cleaning and radiographs, in-house laboratory work, boarding, bathing, and grooming. The Veterinary Assistant supports patient care through a range of clinical and client-facing duties. The role requires tolerating unpleasant odors and noises and may involve exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases. Training and continuing development are available through virtual and hands-on interactive opportunities.

Requirements

• A minimum of one year of Veterinary Assistant experience is preferred.
• Be compassionate, calm, a team player, able to multitask, and a strong communicator.
• Be able to properly restrain pets.
• Be a self-starter with a desire to continue advancing knowledge and skills.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets.
• Triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze laboratory samples.
• Perform diagnostic imaging.
• Manage and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability.
• Administer medications.
• Communicate treatment plans effectively to clients.
• Prepare for and assist with surgery.
• Manage anesthesia.
