About The Position

Pet Medical Center of Springfield is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join its fast-paced small animal practice. The hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental services and emphasizes communication, teamwork, and patient care. The role offers hands-on patient care and opportunities to build clinical skills in a collaborative, supportive workplace.

The position is full-time preferred, with part-time considered. Typical shifts may be 6:30 AM–5:00 PM, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM, or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays from 7:00 AM–1:00 PM. Flexible scheduling is available for the right candidate.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2–3 years of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting.
• Comfort with patient restraint, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, radiographs, and surgical preparation.
• Strong multitasking and communication skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work efficiently in a busy hospital environment.
• Reliable team player who enjoys learning and supporting coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during appointments and procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia.
• Collect laboratory samples and provide diagnostic support.
• Maintain accurate treatment records and communicate clearly with clients.
• Support patient recovery, hospitalization, and daily treatment flow.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area.
