About The Position

Metro Veterinary Associates (MVA) is hiring a Veterinary Assistant for discharge support at its Norristown, Pennsylvania hospital. The role assists discharge nurses with appointments and discharge preparations, helps prepare patients to go home, and supports general patient care and hospital operations. It requires compassionate client communication, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized and calm in a fast-paced environment. The schedule is Wednesday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Pay starts at $19 per hour.

Requirements

Experience and comfort with dog and cat restraint and handling.

Responsibilities

Assist discharge nurses with appointments and discharge preparations.
Communicate verbally and in writing with clients and team members.
Prepare patients for discharge, including removing IV catheters, fitting e-collars, and helping load pets into vehicles.
Support general patient care, including laundry, husbandry, walking dogs, and cage cleaning.
Assist with diagnostics as needed.
Stock and organize supplies throughout the hospital.
Maintain a clean and organized environment that meets high standards of care.
Collaborate with nursing and support teams across departments.
Provide compassionate communication and support to clients navigating post-hospital care.
