About The Position

Locust Valley Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and support both animals and their owners. The role combines client service and administrative tasks with assisting the veterinary team. The assistant will be trained to safely restrain cats and dogs during examinations and procedures, helping ensure their comfort and safety. Additional duties may be assigned or reassigned as policies and procedures change.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Weekend availability as needed.
• Ability to lift 30–50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, quality customer care to patients and clients.
• Process invoices and payments.
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and obtain necessary medical history.
• Determine the status of patients’ immunizations and tests.
• Communicate with the doctor and technical staff about patient arrivals and necessary treatments.
• Fill prescriptions, food requests, and over-the-counter product requests as instructed by a veterinarian.
• Accurately enter data into computer software.
• Assist with the safe restraint of cats and dogs during examinations and procedures.
